Key Phrases To Tag The Right Inner Voice

“I sensed something was offHe’s got these two young girls. Something’s not right”, said Lisa Campbell, Police Specialist involved in the arrest of Jaycee Dugard’s abductor. I read Oprah’s interview and these two statements glared like  yellow flashing lights.

Why? Because these are the phrases I hear consistently when people recall and retell their life altering and often life saving, intuitive experiences. “Yes but… there are many voices speaking in my head, you might say. Which one is the right voice to listen to?”

Stop and think about a time when you had an intuition. What do you remember saying to yourself? For example you might have said, “For some reason…I have this unsettling or compelling feeling.”

Here are some other comments I’ve earmarked as buzz words to remember; tag line phrases when your instincts are warning and your intuition is calling to you.

“This looks strange, odd, weird, or abnormal…

 I don’t like the way this sounds…

 Something in the voice doesn’t ring true

 I feel uneasy, unsettled, uncomfortable, or suspicious.

 My skin is crawling. I feel agitated, queasy, anxious

 For some reason, out of nowhere I have this nagging thought. It is bugging me. I can’t get this thought out of my mind…

Do you have others? Send them to me and I will add them to the list so the next time you hear yourself thinking any of these…you will honor and act on them,  rather than dismissing them.

Lisa Campbell ended her interview by saying, “I think we’re one of the only species that ignores the instinct that we have. Don’t be afraid to question. You can always apologize if you’re wrong. Take that extra step”‘

Worry less about false judgment and incriminating thoughts. Focus on protecting your self and others who may fall prey, and still be at the mercy of this person you have ill feelings about.  Better to be safe by checking things out, than mortified for not listening to yourself.

In upcoming blogs I will write about the consequences of disregarding instincts and intuitions.  Sometimes we learn the hard way. What’s important is that we learn…
